Turn your pain into purpose.

This book project gathers real stories from people with similar experiences, giving hope, encouragement, and understanding to others on the same journey.

There will be a series of books, each dedicated to a specific topic, offering readers encouragement, hope, strength, support, and advice from lived experience.

Each book supports a relevant charity, with all Amazon royalties donated directly to causes connected to the book’s theme.

This project invites you to write a chapter for a professionally published book about a specific life experience.

By joining, you can inspire hope in others and support a related charity.

Here’s what you can do by joining:

By joining, you can:

  • Share your story in your own words.

  • Join a meaningful project that will be professionally published.

  • Help others feel less alone.

  • Support important charitable causes.

  • Use the book in your own work or advocacy, if you choose

  • Buy author copies of the book at cost and do with them as you wish.

You don’t have to be a writer.

You don’t have to share everything.

You only need a story you’re ready to share.

About Me

I’m Andrea. I’m an author and a survivor.

I wrote and published my own memoir, Sacrificial Girl, in August 2024. The book became a number one bestseller in the Physical and Sexual Abuse category and reached number three in Real-Life Tragedy Biographies on Amazon. Later, I contributed a chapter to the Start Over series with Sir Marco Robinson, which also became a number one bestseller.

Writing my story was a turning point in my life. For the first time, I could make peace with what I had been through, find my voice, reconnect with the true me and start moving forward without blame, shame, guilt or silence.

Since then, I’ve created my own platform, What Life Throws At You, offering support, resources, and encouragement to others navigating life after trauma. I now write, design, and publish trauma-informed workbooks and journals, both digitally and in print, to support self-reflection, healing, and growth.

I’m passionate about helping people understand that life after trauma is possible. Too many people live carrying fear, shame, blame, and guilt, and too many lives are lost to silence. I believe that sharing lived experience, when done safely and with support, can reduce that isolation and remind others they are not alone.

This book project is part of that belief: turning pain into purpose, raising awareness, and supporting charities connected to the experiences shared.

WHAT THIS IS (AND IS NOT)

What this is:

  • A guided publishing program

  • A supportive group with structure

  • A collaborative book published professionally

  • A charity-focused project that makes a real difference.

  • A series of themed books featuring survivor stories that show that healing is possible.

What this is not:

  • Therapy or counselling

  • A coaching or healing programme

  • A writing course focused on teaching technique.

I am not a counsellor or therapist. I have a certification in trauma-informed coaching, and I approach everything with care and awareness, but this project is not therapy or treatment. It is a structured storytelling and publishing program.

I wrote my memoir about healing from childhood abuse, and telling my story helped me heal in a different way.

Writing about personal experiences of trauma or abuse can help people heal. It helps them process emotions, understand their experiences, and feel less long-term distress.

HOW YOUR CHAPTER WORKS

Your chapter is your story to tell.

I will NOT rewrite your story or take away your voice.

I can support you with:

  • Chapter structure (what happened, the impact, and your recovery, reflection, or encouragement)

  • Clarity and flow

  • Grammar and readability

  • Making sure your chapter fits the book’s main theme

You will always have the final say on your chapter.

THE CHARITY COMMITMENT

All Amazon royalties from the published books will go directly to a charity that matches the book’s theme, such as domestic abuse, cancer support, child protection, or grief support.

Your program fee is not a donation. It pays for the practical and professional work needed to create and publish the book.

Please note that it is the Amazon sales that go to the charity of choice, managed by the publishing company, and donations are published each month.

WHAT YOUR FEE COVERS

The participation fee for this project is £1,000.

3 Monthly Payment plans are available and will be shared if you are offered a place.

Please apply only if this feels financially realistic for you.

Your participation fee covers:

  • Editing support for your chapter

  • Formatting and layout of the full book

  • Cover design

  • Amazon KDP publishing setup

  • Contributor coordination and deadlines

  • Group structure and facilitation

  • Weekly group support calls.

  • Guidance on writing and structuring your chapter

  • Access to a private contributor space for peer support

  • Charity coordination and donation management

There are no hidden fees or extra charges for personal branding, tuition, courses, or photography.

One upfront fee: no upselling or upgrades.

AUTHOR COPIES & PROMOTION

As a contributor, you will be able to:

  • Buy author copies of the book at cost through the publishing company, because Amazon only allows one publishing account.

  • Approach independent bookshops and libraries

  • Use the book in your own work or business if you wish.

  • Share and promote the project on social media

If you are a coach, healer, practitioner, or advocate, you can include this book in your portfolio.

Please note that it is the Amazon sales that go to the charity of choice, managed by the publishing company, and proceeds are published each month.

Promotion & Awareness

Each book in this series is shared thoughtfully, with the goal of raising awareness and supporting the charities connected to its stories.

I will promote each book on my website, through my email list, and on social media. I’ll also share the project with communities and organisations related to the book’s theme.

I will connect with charities that share the book’s focus, including the one receiving Amazon royalties. When it makes sense, we might work together on promotion, awareness campaigns, or conversations about the book’s theme.

This project isn’t about sales or visibility. It’s about sharing real experiences, starting important conversations, and making sure the book reaches those who need it most.

Contributors are welcome to share the book in ways that feel right for them, but there’s no pressure to promote it publicly.

When contributors, charities, and communities come together, the reach of these stories naturally grows.

SUPPORT & STRUCTURE

You will not be doing this alone.

The programme includes:

  • A clear timeline

  • Structured guidance

  • Weekly group support calls.

  • Access to other contributors for encouragement and accountability

This is a safe and respectful space focused on progress, not pressure.

A GROWING SERIES

This project is part of a planned series of collaborative books published under What Life Throws At You.

Each book focuses on a specific lived experience and brings together survivor voices to offer hope, understanding, and encouragement.

Future themes may include:

  • Narcissistic Abuse: Survivor Stories

  • Childhood Abuse & Recovery

  • Living with Grief After Child Loss

  • Eating Disorder Recovery

  • Cancer Survivors & Carers

  • Menopause: Stories of Change & Resilience

  • Suicide Loss & Survival

  • Grief & Loss

  • Domestic Abuse & Violence

  • Addiction Recovery

  • Human Trafficking

  • Grooming Gangs

Future books will be chosen based on which topic gathers the most interested parties.

How This Project Comes Together

Each book will include about 8 to 12 contributors, which helps create a balanced and meaningful mix of voices.

Projects move forward only when there is enough interest to ensure the group feels supported and the book can be delivered well. If there is insufficient interest, the project will pause rather than continue. There are no guarantees and no pressure to keep going.

This approach helps ensure that every book published is thoughtful, respectful, and sustainable.

HOW TO TAKE PART

Participation in this project is by application only.

This helps ensure the group remains aligned, respectful, and supportive.

Apply to collaborate - Current Book

Each application is reviewed individually, and places are limited.

Have Questions: Book a Clarity Call

A short, informal call to ask questions and see if the project feels right. This is not a therapy or coaching session.

FINAL NOTE

This project is about turning your lived experience into something meaningful for you, for others, and for the charities we support.

You do not have to share everything.

You are not expected to heal anyone.

You are invited to share your story and let it help others.

A STEP TOWARDS MORE

For some people, this experience can be:

  • A way to find and clarify your voice or message

  • Confidence Building.

  • The first step towards writing a full book

If you want to publish your own book later, I can help you with writing and publishing.

There’s no obligation to continue after this project.
